ITU’s Advanced Training on Spectrum Monitoring Launched in Kunming

On April 16-20, 2018, the ‘Monitoring RF Spectrum in Modern Wireless Era’ themed spectrum management advanced training jointly held by SRMC and ITU was launched in Kunming, Yunnan. The Program Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) in ITU Aamir Riaz, and the Vice Director of SRMC Chen Jinxing, the Chief Engineer of Commission of Industry and Information Technology of Yunnan Province Shang Wei, the section chief from the Bureau of Radio Regulation of MIIT Zhu Ke’er, and associate investigator of Department of International Cooperation Huang Jia attended and delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

Totally 24 foreign trainees from 12 Asia-Pacific countries like Fiji, Korea, Vanuatu, Brunei, Iran, etc. and 18 domestic trainees participated in training.

  

SRMC has successfully held five CoE trainings include two network trainings since 2015, shared experiences and technologies in aspects of spectrum management and radio monitoring with nearly 500 trainees from developing countries of Asian and Africa. Kunming was selected as the training site this time arising from that as the strategy intersection of ‘One Belt And One Road’ and Yangtze River Economic Zone, Kuming will develop Land communication network and internet service jointly with countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Combined with the our experience in spectrum monitoring, the training courses were involved Radio Monitoring Technology, Radio Reference Case Analysis, Space Monitoring, Drone Monitoring Technology and Practice, etc..

Mr. Riaz said that as the specialized organization in the field of ICT of U.N., ITU will help administrations – especially those in developing countries complete the work in aspects of spectrum management and spectrum assignment. He added that the training provided a well platform for administration and related organization in various countries to exchange views and share ideas, to promote effective use of spectrum resource in Asia-Pacific Area.
